Mia Quaglia

I’m a licensed clinical social worker. I’ve been working in the field for 15 years. I chose social work as my profession because I want to make a difference in other people’s lives. In the past I’ve worked with children and families. Over the past 15 years I’ve worked directly with a psychiatrist both in private practice and a clinical environment. I believe that people need to be heard, they need to be met where they are. In hard times in a life people just need a safe place to express themselves. I like to keep things real and grounded. I’m the same person in the office as I am on the outside. I’m honest and open, and I like to use humor in my sessions to help keep the mood right.

Maira Simonian

I work with adults, adolescent, & children who suffer from of emotional, behavioral, & adjustment problems, such as depression, anxiety, stress, ADHD, life transitions, substance abuse & relationship problems.   I provide my clients with a warm, nonjudgmental environment & use a variety of evidence-based treatment approaches to help my clients, depending on individual needs.

What brought me to this profession is my genuine interest & care for people. As a child I have always loved helping people & have had a natural ability to understand and listen to people, a trait I inherited from my mother. I grew up in a multicultural area & seen many people who weren’t as fortunate as I was & wanted to make a difference. Now in counseling, I can make a difference in helping clients of diverse backgrounds become empowered to face & cope with life issues & to become better educated about mental health & their well-being.

I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Before entering into private practice, my experiences include;  hospital social worker at Mercy Medical Center and working at Golden Valley Health Center  with clients with mental health challenges, substance abuse & clients dealing with addictions, divorce, relationship problems, and mood disorders.  The ability to help clients become empowered to change their life is both satisfying and rewarding as a counselor. To be given the privilege of being involved in & helping clients overcome life challenges or life crippling mental health illness.

What makes me unique is my total commitment to my clients & my ability to create a therapeutic alliance. Being able to integrate all aspects of counseling, & having the vision to see beyond just the spoken word into what is truly happening in the life of a client.
